Kemilinks International has been organising a series of workshops on spectrum management for the development of the ICT sector in Africa. These workshops have now been acknowledged as one of the main for a for discussing and elaborating strategies for planning of spectrum in developing countries, with focus on Africa. The workshops offer a unique opportunity for stakeholders to exchange views and experiences as well as learn of new developments in the management of spectrum.
Last year, the 5h African Spectrum Management Workshop successfully took place at the Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg, South Africa with the active participation of a number of ICT policy makers and regulators, telecom operators and broadcasters as well as industry representatives from across the globe. The workshope was well supported by the ICT industry in South Africa
As a follow up to the success of the previous workshops, the 6th African Spectrum Management Workshop is now being organised to take place at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, Nigeria from 23-27 November, 2009. The workshop is expected to attract several high level decision makers and experts on spectrum management from across Africa and beyond. Moreover, this workshop will be one of the activities marking the 10th Anniversary of Kemilinks International.
The programme for the 6th African Spectrum Management Workshop, includes the fundamental aspects of spectrum planning as well as key developments in spectrum management. Among the key issues to be discussed are spectrum usage optimisation for network operators, spectrum auditing and refarming, spectrum pricing mechanisms and spectrum trading.
