ABOUT
THE AWARDS
|
|
The
Kemilinks International ICT Africa Awards have been established to promote the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in Africa and to encourage best practice. The Awards have been designed to recognise and reward those organisations and individuals that have demonstrated excellence in promoting the use of ICT for the overall development of the African continent.
|
|
The Awards are open to all Africans (in or outside Africa) and African based organisations (limited or otherwise), public bodies, and not-for-profit organisations that are directly or indirectly engaged in the promotion of the use of ICT. The awardees will be selected from amongst, but not be limited to individual professionals, consultants, researchers, students, operators, service providers, manufacturers, system integrators, consumers, policy makers, regulators and other government agencies.

TO ENTER
|

Anyone can nominate only one individual or organisation for one or more categories of Awards by simply providing the required information.
|
|
An individual or an organization may not nominate himself, herself, or itself

The
process of entry is in three steps as follows :-

The deadline for submitting Nominations Profile is 12 midnight GMT on Saturday 23 November 2008.
|
|
PROCEDURE FOR AWARD DECISION
|
|
Kemilinks International will assemble a Panel of Judges to consider the various Nomination Profiles and make a decision based on the quality of the information supplied. The number of nominations for a particular organisation or individual will NOT be a factor in the consideration of the Panel. The Panel may decide not to give any award for one or more categories.
The decision of the Panel shall be final and will be announced during the ICT Africa Investment Summit 2008 scheduled to take place 27 - 29 November 2008 at the Palais des Congres, Cotonou, Republic of Benin.

ICT AFRICA INVESTMENT SUMMIT
|
|
The ICT Africa Investment Summit aims to bring together policy makers, regulators, operators and service providers, potential investors, financial institutions, consumers and other stakeholders in the ICT African sector to address relevant issues that are critical to securing increased investments in the broadcasting, IT and telecommunications infrastructure and service delivery in Africa. The key features of the Summit include:

- Forum to discuss the key issues that drive investment growth in the sector - financing strategies, policy and regulatory frameworks, technologies, applications and capacity building
- Exhibition and show case presentations from leading industry players
- Opportunities to present bankable projects in the ICT sector in Africa

The winners of the Kemilinks International ICT Africa Awards
2005 were announced during the Awards Dinner on the
evening of opening day of the ICT Africa Investment
Summit 2005 (May 3-5, 2005) at the Banqueting Hall of
Nicon Hilton Hotel, Abuja, Nigeria.
Mr Toyin Abayomi-Banjo, Head of Corporate Affairs, First Bank
of Nigeria plc, announced details of the Awards, on
behalf of the Panel of Eminent Judges.
This was in the presence of 8 African Ministers
responsible for ICTs, several Regulators, Government
Officials, and ICT Experts from across the continent.

According to Dr. Edmund Katiti, Secretary to the Panel of
Judges, The Kemilinks
International ICT Africa Awards were established
to promote the use of information and communication
technologies (ICT) in
Africa
and to encourage best practice. The Awards were designed
to recognise and reward those individuals and
organisations that have demonstrated excellence in
promoting the use of ICT for the overall development of
the African continent.
The Awards are open to all Africans (in or outside

) and African based organisations (limited or
otherwise), public bodies, and not-for-profit
organisations that are directly or indirectly engaged in
the promotion of the use of ICT technologies.
The Nomination Profiles were all considered by the Panel of
Judges selected by Kemilinks International on the basis
of competence, good knowledge of the ICT industry in
Africa
, regional balance and gender.
The Awards were handed to the winners by Alhaji Umaru Mutallab,
Chairman of the First Bank of Nigeria plc; sponsors of
the Awards Dinner.
Kemilinks International was established in December 1999 as a
global consultancy firm to provide advisory/consultancy
services, training and investment facilitation in
telecommunications and information technology, with a
view to enhancing the development of these sectors in
the emerging markets, particularly in
Africa
